EQUAL GROUND Welcomes More Partners for Colombo PRIDE 2021

EQUAL GROUND is pleased to welcome our latest partners, Sunila Women and Children Development Foundation (Polonnaruwa), Young Out Here, Youth Voices Count, Rotaract Club of Colombo East and the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka, for Colombo PRIDE 2021.

“Sunila Women and Children Development Foundation is happy to support any initiative that advocates for the rights of the LGBTIQ community and celebrate diverse identities. We are striving to build awareness and understanding about LGBTIQ rights among the communities we serve which includes women and the youth population in Sri Lanka. We are always dedicated to protect these human rights, promote equality, and celebrate the Pride of the LGBTIQ community in Sri Lanka.” (SWCDF)

“YOH always keeps its solidarity with all the community organisations, and we believe in this year’s PRIDE that we should be joining hands to battle these difficult times, together as one, more than ever.” (Young Out Here)

“Pride is a celebration of diversity and acceptance. It is a reminder that our lives, our love and our representation matters. Youth Voices Count is partnering up with Colombo Pride 2021 to help bring together the voices of the unheard.” (Youth Voices Count)

“The Rotaract Club of Colombo East is a safe space, welcoming people irrespective of gender identity and/or sexual orientation (et al.). We are proud to openly welcome queer young people to the Rotary fraternity and present an atmosphere of openness, inclusivity, and expression – a truly inclusive space. We are dedicated to providing a safe-space for young people, who are just discovering themselves or wanting to express themselves, all whilst discovering the joys of “Service above Self”. To the Rotaract Club of Colombo East, pride is more than just about celebrating queerness; to us it is about celebrating inclusivity, celebrating difference, celebrating expression and above all celebrating HUMANITY- with all the colours that it encompasses. We are proud to be open, proud to be inclusive, proud to be accepting, proud to be expressing, and proud to be ALLIES.” (Rotaract Club of Colombo East)

“Diversity and an equal opportunity for all are at the heart of Australia’s values. We, at the Australian High Commission, are excited to support PRIDE month in 2021, amongst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. PRIDE month provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the strong LGBTIQ community in Sri Lanka, Australia and globally.  Let’s move together towards a world of even more visibility, acceptance and equality.” (Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka)
