EQUAL GROUND recently made a significant step in its journey to make Sri Lanka’s corporate sector a space that is accepting of and safe for members of the LGBTIQ community, with the launch of its e-module on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The e-module, which explores topics related to Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, or Gender Expression (SOGIE), can be utilised by corporates amongst their workforces to create more diverse and accepting environments through awareness-building. EQUAL GROUND collaborated with Layup, an e-Learning content development company to create the course.
The launch of the e-module was held on the 07th of March 2024, with stakeholders from multiple corporations from various industries in attendance. Speaking at the event was Rosanna Flamer-Caldera, Executive Director of EQUAL GROUND, along with two figures who were instrumental in the creation of the e-module, acting as consultants for the project: Kumudu Munasinghe, Head of Corporate Communications, Head of Operation – Social Entrepreneurship, Group Lead for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Senior Assistant Vice President – John Keells Group, and Gayani Ranasinghe, Consultant – Gender and Work.
