Saudi Arrests Gay men!
After a month and a half after the arrest of 25 homosexuals in the city of Seyhat in The Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia, in a new wave of arrests the Saudi authorities arrested 55 young men who attended a gay dance party.
The Arabic section of the Islam Online website, which announced the news, quoted observers who labeled the rapid growth of the saudi gay movement a “dangerous development” and asked the authorities to put more efforts into solving this social problem.
According to ,Colonel Abdul Aziz Soleiman, the The Director of the Department of Information and the spokesman for the security forces in the Eastern Region, “ The security forces have detained 55 youths late Monday night. The detainees were attending a dance party for the gay people held on a farm in the city of Sayhat…. two of the detainees were wearing female makeup and were dancing in front of the group.”
A unit of Saudi morality police (known as the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice Unit) was involved in storming the place.
In recent months, the saudi authorities have raided a number of gay parties. On June 21, The Saudi Morality Police arrested 21 Filipino and Pakistani homosexuals who attended a birthday party in the city of Seyhat.
In March 2008, The police forces arrested 30 young men who got together in a gay party in the holy city of Mekkah. The police described the men as “dubious”.
In May, a male homosexual who dressed up as a woman was arrested in a famous hotel in the saudi Capital Riyadh. The arrest took place after the gay man published an ad on the Internet to offer himself for 500 Saudi Riyals, or approximately $400.
