More Tsunami Houses complete

Through the SLS Tsunami Relief Trust, EQUAL GROUND was able to contribute towards the building of houses for those affected by the Tsunami at Dutch Bar. Built in an area called Thiraiimadu, the houses will provide shelter for over 47 families that were affected by the Tsunami of 2004.

Building has been slow due to many reasons, chiefly the escalation of the ethnic war on the East Coast and the North. In addition, the rise in prices of building materials, the lack of trained personnel to oversee the project in the area and other factors have delayed construction. However, through perseverance and the good graces of all those who have donated to this project, most of the houses are now up and running.

Our thanks to all of you who donated towards the EQUAL GROUND Tsunami fund and to SLS Tsunami Relief Trust for implementing the housing project and providing much needed shelter for the many families of Dutch Bar.
